2016 Dr. N. Stewart McIntyre Award winner Joseph Turnbull

Congratulations to Mr. Joseph Turnbull, PhD candidate from the Department of Chemistry at Western University, winner of the 2016 Dr. N. Stewart McIntyre Award in Surface Science.
Joseph’s research abstract was entitled “Corrosion of Copper Nuclear Waste Containers in Aqueous HNO3 Solutions”. Joseph has used a variety of surface analysis techniques during his studies, including scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and laser Raman spectroscopy. In the future, Joseph has plans to employ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for his work.
